About Us
Why Wily Wellness?
The word wily means clever, resourceful, and adaptable—qualities that are essential for navigating life’s complexities. Traditional approaches to mental health can sometimes feel rigid, as if they follow a predictable path. But healing isn’t always linear, and real transformation often requires creativity, curiosity, and a willingness to embrace the unexpected.
Psychedelics, including ketamine, exemplify this wily approach. They don’t work in the same way as conventional treatments; instead, they open new mental landscapes, allowing for fresh perspectives, deeper self-awareness, and unexpected breakthroughs. They challenge old patterns and invite awe and wonder—key elements of true change.
At Wily Wellness, we honor this dynamic, insightful approach to healing. Whether through psychedelic treatments, thoughtful therapy, or life transitions coaching, we help patients discover new ways forward—ones that are both grounded and transformative.
Why a Coyote?
At Wily Wellness, the coyote is more than just a nod to the wily nature of transformation—it’s a reflection of resilience, adaptability, and the spirit of the Southwest.
Yes, the name plays on Wile E. Coyote from Looney Tunes—a character who, despite his endless misadventures, never stops innovating, problem-solving, and trying again. That persistence, that refusal to be defeated, resonates deeply with the journey of personal growth and healing.
Coyotes are also deeply connected to the landscape of Tucson, where they move between the desert and the city, thriving in unpredictable environments. They are intelligent, resourceful, and unafraid to take unconventional paths—qualities that align perfectly with psychedelic-assisted therapy and the creative, non-linear nature of healing.
At Wily Wellness, we embrace that same spirit. True change doesn’t always follow a straight road; sometimes, it requires a little cleverness, a shift in perspective, and a willingness to explore the unexpected. Like the coyote, we help our patients navigate life’s transitions with insight, resilience, and a touch of wild wisdom.
The Story Behind the Suzanis
When you step into the Wily Wellness offices, you’ll notice the richly embroidered textiles that fill the space with warmth, color, and history. These are suzanis—traditional hand-stitched textiles from Central Asia, where Heather lived and worked for many years. More than just decoration, suzanis represent resilience, creativity, and the beauty of things that are both handmade and imperfect.
One of the most meaningful traditions in suzani-making is the intentional choice to leave a small section unfinished. This acknowledges that perfection is an illusion and that life—like healing—is an ongoing process, always evolving. In therapy, as in art, the goal is not to "complete" ourselves but to remain open to growth, transformation, and new patterns unfolding.
Suzanis are also a reflection of connection: they were historically created as collaborative works, with multiple hands stitching a shared story. At Wily Wellness, we see healing as a similar process—not something you do alone, but a journey we navigate together, with insight, wisdom, and curiosity.
By surrounding this space with suzanis, we hope to bring that spirit into our work—honoring tradition while embracing change, valuing both the intricate details and the unfinished edges, and holding space for what’s yet to come.
